I let mosquitoes bite me knowing that bites will disappear overnight with the help of an appropriate medical ointment AND –
I let animals we call humans bite me too with fangs impalpable to the naked eye, malicious and obviously merciless, knowing that it CAN take a lifetime or probably half of it to simply be healed.
HOW ABOUT THE SCARS LEFT BEHIND?
DO THEY STAY AWAY OR HEAL IN TIME?
JUST LIKE HOW THE WOUNDS ARE LEFT TO HEAL BY THEMSELVES?
Maybe there’s a reason why they don’t fade forever. Just like the blotch of red ink on a piece of white cloth. It gets harder to fade once when you try to brush it off. Just like that very little sad past everyone has. And just like that memory of a first love that couldn’t be the last. Maybe they’re there to remind you of things that could hurt you, so you would stay away from trouble. They would reel you back to that period of time when your wounds are left to heal by themselves and how you struggled to breathe every single day, just to give them a chance to heal. Because somewhere deep inside you, you wanted to live, not just survive. They would let you know how much a fighter you were to not have fainted forever in the midst of the excruciating hurt.
More than ever, they WILL tell OTHERS a story your scientific brain fails to speak.
Just like a permanent tattoo.
Reminding you of WHY you even had that particular tattoo on that particular spot of your body.
How you stomached the pain while they crafted out your artwork just so that you would feel beautiful and empowered later.
So don’t even hope for scars to fade away. Why would you want to make the same mistakes again?
Love your bites and scars.
